Waxing
HOW TO PREP FOR A WAX?
A warm shower is recommended. This will open up your pores and soften your skin for better hair removal. Do not apply any oils or lotions to your skin. Wear comfortable clothing for your visit. Getting waxed while hungover or under the influence won’t make it better. For facial waxing, do not wear any makeup for the best results.
WHAT IS HARD WAX?
We use NovaWAX - it is a professional grade hypoallergenic wax that is great for sensitive skin. This wax is free of any perfumes making it less likely to cause redness and irritation during and after waxing. Hard wax is highly recommended for intimate areas and facial waxing.
HOW LONG DOES HAIR HAVE TO BE TO WAX?
The hair needs to be ¼ inch long or as long as a grain of rice. If you were a frequent shaver, this means at least 2 weeks of growth from your last shave of the area.
WHEN SHOULD I WAX FOR A TRIP OR SPECIAL EVENT?
It is recommended you come in 2-3 days in advance, especially if you are new to waxing, as people with very sensitive skin might incur slight redness or irritation. It will calm down in a day or so. Waxing removes hair from the root, which keeps your skin hair-free for around 2-3 weeks.
CAN YOU GET WAXED DURING YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE?
Absolutely! Tampons are encouraged and we work around it. Just be aware that you may be more sensitive during that time of the month.
CAN YOU GET WAXED IF YOU'RE PREGNANT?
Yes, you can! Waxing is completely safe and some women wax all the way up to their due date. Some expecting mothers experience heightened pain sensitivity during waxing due to hormonal changes. This is normal. Consult your physician for further questions before your wax.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE AN INGROWN HAIR?
DO NOT PICK AT THEM. Messing with them can cause infection and scarring. Being prone to ingrown hair is no fun. We offer treatments and take-home products to help prevent and minimize them. Keep in mind, waxing is not for everyone and not all will benefit from it. Some might need another form of hair removal to help ingrown hair depending on the person.
HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD I WAX?
Consistency is key when it comes to waxing. Being consistent will allow your hairs to continue to grow back slowly and become thinner with each wax. It will keep your hairs' growth cycle on track and minimize ingrown hair because waxing is such an effective exfoliant.
Lash Lifts
WHAT IS A LASH LIFT?
Lash Lift is an advanced technique of what was formerly known as a lash perm. It's designed to boost and lift the eyelashes. It curls your natural lashes so they appear longer without the need for lash extensions.
HOW SHOULD YOU PREP FOR A LASH LIFT?
We ask that you come in with a clean face, especially no eye make-up. Also, opt for your glasses over your contacts for this appointment.
HOW LONG DOES A LASH LIFT LAST?
It lasts 6-8 weeks depending on the person's lash cycle and care.
DO LASH LIFTS HAVE MAINTENANCE?
There is no need for any maintenance between appointments. You CAN wear eye makeup and mascara as usual.
Brow Tint
WHAT IS BROW TINTING?
Eyebrow tinting involves applying a gentle dye to your brows for about 7-10 minutes to take them a shade or two darker. For sparse brows, in particular, tinting works wonders at grabbing the lighter hairs to result in a fuller brow. Tinting will also stain skin where there is no hair.
IS BROW TINTING PERMANENT?
Brow tint is not permanent and will fade away on its own.
HOW LONG DOES THE TINT LAST?
Brow tint can last 2-3 weeks depending on care. Brow stain on the skin can last a couple of days. Brow stain is the tint that stains the skin where there is no hair to give it the illusion of hair.
Brow Henna
What is Henna?
Henna is a 99.5% natural product that has the power to stain the skin as well as the hair. Unlike regular tints, it contains no ammonia or peroxides. It conditions the brow hairs as well as encourages new hair growth. It is also excellent for those resistant grey & white hairs
Is it permanent?
No. It is not a tattoo, it is not invasive, it does not hurt. It simply stains the skin and tints the hair.
How long does it last?
Like anything, results do VARY, however, most of the time you can expect the skin stain to gradually fade over 7 - 14 days and the hair tint for 4 weeks. Sometimes, the henna just doesn’t take well to certain people’s skin. Your lifestyle also plays a big part in the longevity i.e. swimming, excessive sweating, using face products on the eye area, etc. will result in your henna brows fading faster than usual.
Why are all the pictures of henna so dark?
Most of the pictures we share look dark because the Henna tint is still on. This is because most of our clients CHOOSE to leave their henna on. Once the Henna is brushed out, the result is much softer and nowhere near as dark.
Do I have to leave the Henna on?
The short answer is... NO! At the end of your appointment, we give you the option of brushing them out for you OR we give you a spoolie brush so that you can do them in your own time.
Does Henna last longer than regular tint?
For most people, the answer is yes. However, for some people, it’s the opposite. This is not something we can control nor guarantee. We make every effort to ensure that you do get a great result. Again, the only way to truly find out is to try it for yourself
